HILARY FRANZ

COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC LANDS WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES

Elected in 2016, Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz protects and manages nearly six million acres of public lands in Washington State – from coastal waters and aquatic reserves, to working forests and farms, to commercial developments and recreation areas. Commissioner Franz is committed to ensuring our public lands are healthy and productive, both today and for future generations.

She is leading the push to make Washington’s lands resilient in the face of climate change, investing in carbon sequestration and clean energy with wind, solar, and geothermal infrastructure.


As the leader of our state's largest wildfire fighting force, she has pushed for new strategies, innovations, and resources to protect our communities.

Jon’s passion for taking on big issues is reflected in his nearly 20 years of work in nonprofit advocacy, local government, regional policy and senior positions on political campaigns. At DSA, he leads a diverse team focused on creating a healthy, vibrant and inviting downtown.
Jon is a member of the board of Visit Seattle, the International Downtown Association, Transportation Choice Coalition and the Downtown Emergency Service Center. He has served on a number of city and county task forces on transportation, homelessness and housing. Jon is a Puget Sound Business Journal 40 Under 40 award winner and a graduate of Leadership Tomorrow. He attended the University of Texas in Austin before graduating from the University of Washington.

MICHAEL SCHOONOVER

Michael has over 30 years of experience in property management, development, acquisition, and disposition. He focuses his practice on vacant land and commercial real estate. Currently, he is the Managing Director of RE/MAX Honors–Commercial Division in Puyallup, WA. One of the fastest-growing commercial Brokerages in the region.

Michael has served as the President of Washington REALTORS® and on numerous committees, PAG's, Task Forces, and as the chair of the Legislative Steering committee as well as its Vice President of Government Affairs. He was awarded Washington REALTORS® Commercial REALTOR® of the Year in 2010, and received the REALTORS® Land Institutes Washington State Land Broker of the Year the same year. In 2012 Michael was recognized as the Hugh Hawkins Instructor of the Year. Michael received the National Association of REALTORS® 2013 National Commercial Award for outstanding service in the field of Commercial Real Estate. 

Michael has taught classes and given keynote addresses around the country and at several national conventions. He recently co–wrote and developed the VA & Military Real Estate Specialist© certification and authored the PRIMETIME© Time Management and Business Planning Program.
